Gomel State Production Forestry Association is an association of state legal entities. The republican government body and the founder of the association is the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus.
The Gomel State Forestry Organization, as legal entities, includes 21 forestry institutions (forestry enterprises), which, in turn, consist of 178 forestry districts, 684 workshop sites and 1651 forest bypasses. In total, the association employs more than 7 thousand people. The number of employees of the state forest guard is more than 3 thousand people. 80% of the region's forests are under the jurisdiction of the Gomel State Forestry Enterprise.
The Association was created to carry out general management, general management of activities, coordination of activities and representation of the interests of the Participants. The main task of the Association is to ensure a highly professional, high-quality forestry management aimed at implementing its main functions.
Forest management should ensure:
- preservation and strengthening of the environment-forming, water protection, protective, sanitary-hygienic, health-improving and other useful natural properties of forests in the interests of protecting human health and improving the state of the environment;
- multipurpose, scientifically grounded, continuous, sustainable and rational use of forests to meet the needs of economic sectors, legal entities and individuals in wood, other forest products and natural useful properties of the forest.
- production, improvement of the species composition and quality of forests, increasing their productivity, protection and protection of forests;
- rational use of forest lands;
- increasing the efficiency of forestry based on a unified technical policy, using the achievements of science, technology and advanced experience;
- conservation of the gene pool, biological and landscape diversity of forests;
- preservation of objects of historical, cultural and natural heritage.
