GOMEL STATE PRODUCTION FORESTRY ASSOCIATION

The main areas of industrial activity of the forestry enterprises of the State Forestry Enterprise are:

• wood harvesting;
• wood processing;
• production of planed and molded products;
• production of rounded and debarked wood;
• wood fuel production;
• secondary use of the forest;

WOOD HARVESTING

Every year, the forestry enterprises of the association harvest about 5.0 million cubic meters of wood for all types of logging, and in the future these volumes will increase

For the production of work on the harvesting and removal of wood in the forestry enterprises of the association there are 185 MAZ sorting trucks, 323 loading and transport vehicles, 51 forwarders, 62 harvesters, 1315 chainsaws.

This technique is used for the following types of work:

• wood harvesting wood
• removal wood
• delivery to the warehouse of consumers

WOOD PROCESSING

In 16 forestry enterprises of the Gomel State Forestry Enterprise there is a sawmill and woodworking production. The annual volume of wood processing in them is 1200 thousand cubic meters, including 700 thousand cubic meters of wood. The average annual volume of sawn timber production is 290 thousand cubic meters, of which about 165 thousand cubic meters are sold for export.

Forestry enterprises of the region produce the following types of products:

Sawn timber:

• edged
• timber
• unedged
• picket fence

Planed and molded products:

• sheathing
• floor board
• trim
• plinth
• block house
• furniture blanks

Rounded wood and products made from it:

• baths
• gazebos
• rounded wood

DRYING FACILITIES

In 11 forestry enterprises of the association, modern drying complexes are installed, which allow for the annual drying of 23 thousand cubic meters of forest products.

The forestry enterprises of the association produce:

• sales of dry products
• provision of services for drying saw and wood products

THE PROCEDURE FOR SELLING WOOD

Activities for the sale of wood in harvested form are carried out in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus "On certain measures to improve activities in the field of forestry" dated 07.05.2007 No. 214.

EXPORT OF TIMBER PRODUCTS

The forestry enterprises of the association export timber products and provide services on average for a month in the amount of about 3.0 million US dollars. The forestry enterprises of the association are constantly working to expand the range of exported products and develop new markets.

The main products supplied to the foreign market are:

• sawn timber, dry
• wood blanks for export
• planed and moulded products
• rounded and debarked wood
• fuel pellets
• wood chips
• chopped wood

SALES OF TIMBER PRODUCTS TO THE DOMESTIC MARKET

Every year, about 4.0 million cubic meters of round timber, including 2.8 million cubic meters of business wood, are sold on the domestic market for all types of sales. The sale of wood is carried out under civil contracts and at stock exchange auctions in JSC "Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange". Of the total sales of business wood, about 60% is shipped by railcars.

WOOD FUEL PRODUCTION

20 forestry enterprises of the association have stationary and mobile processing complexes of domestic and foreign production for the production of fuel chips. The total annual capacity of the complexes is 652.6 thousand cubic meters of wood chips. Wood chips are delivered to the external and internal markets.

The Buda-Koshelevsky experimental forestry enterprise has equipment for the production of chopped firewood.

Production facilities for the production of wood fuel (pellets) have been established in the Zhitkovichi and Mozyr forestry enterprises.

SECONDARY USE

One of the promising and dynamically developing areas of activity of the association's forestry enterprises is secondary forest management and harvesting of secondary forest resources, including harvesting of tree juices, wild fruits, berries, and other forest food resources, placement of beehives and apiaries, haymaking, harvesting of New Year's trees, household brooms, bath brooms, etc.
